Dave Redekopp

President of the Life-Role Development Group Ltd. in Alberta, Canada, Dave is a recipient of provincial and national awards in career development. He has devoted over 35 years’ work to the development of better career development and workplace concepts and practices. His work addresses a wide range of issues in career development and leadership and has involved developing career development training programs and courses; teaching hundreds of career development practitioners; conducting research in career development practice and labour market conditions; consulting to organizations and institutions; developing programs, workshops, and products/resources for practitioners and end-users; and speaking/presenting to various audiences. 

Dave has worked with federal, provincial, municipal, and First Nation governments; a range of private sector organizations in many economic sectors; institutions/not-for-profits such as schools, universities, and service agencies; and populations/groups of different cultures, ages, work levels, abilities, socioeconomic contexts, and geographies. He has also had the privilege of working across Canada and with or in Australia, Bahrain, Bulgaria, England, Finland, Kazakhstan, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the Netherlands, Scotland, the United States, and Wales. Grateful to be raised in Treaty 1 territory, Dave extends thanks to the Indigenous peoples, past and present, who have cared for Treaty 6 territory, particularly those in the ᐊᒥᐢᑿᒌᐚᐢᑲᐦᐃᑲᐣ, Amiskwacîwâskahikan (Edmonton) area, a traditional gathering place for diverse peoples including the Cree, Blackfoot, Métis, Nakota Sioux, Iroquois, Dene, Ojibway/Saulteaux/Anishinaabe, Inuit, and many others. 

Dave holds a PhD in Educational Psychology from the University of Alberta. Dave recently co-authored Strengthening Mental Health Through Effective Career Development: A Practitioner’s Guide, a book that maps the connections between career development and mental health.
